It’s All in the Details

Senior pictures are my primary photography focus, but I have photographed several weddings since I started my business. I love capturing the details portion of a wedding, because all those beautiful elements truly make a wedding memorable.

Recently, I was visiting with my mom, Brenda Scott of Brenda Scott Studios, and telling her I wanted to do a stylized photo shoot for wedding details. I knew I was going to be in Southwest Iowa for a family reunion at the end of June and thought perhaps she could help me. She was graciously willing to assist, so I began gathering things from my house and ordering a few other details.

After the reunion, I stopped at the local grocery store on my way through Red Oak and grabbed a few large white roses and the sweetest blush colored mini roses from the cooler. The next morning, my mom gathered additional flowers and greenery from her cutting gardens and began putting an arrangement together. Her years of owning a floral business really came in handy, and she had the most gorgeous arrangement ready in minutes!
Once the flowers were designed, she began “shopping” around her gorgeous home to find anything that could represent wedding details. I knew I had asked just the right person as she grabbed candlesticks, golden scrolled plates, linen napkins, and the perfect accent ribbon. I watched in awe as she worked her magic, and before long she had everything ready to photograph. We added and tweaked things as we went, and before long my camera card was filled with oodles of images. With a few more details captured at my own home, I had an elegant assortment of beautiful pictures to choose from.

Thank you Brenda Scott for your inspiration and your incredible talent. I love my images thanks to your brilliant staging. I can hardly wait for my upcoming wedding to put these skills into practice.
